Over the past 43 years, Victory Christian Center has been touching and changing lives for the glory of God, and one of the ways we get to make a major impact on our community is through the Single Preggie Fellowship. On Saturday, October 21st, the Missions Department at Victory Christian Center hosted the event for at least the 10th time! The Single Preggie Fellowship is a baby shower for single pregnant mothers and single moms with children under the age of 2.
Upon arrival, the moms were surprised to see the gym in the Victory Youth Building covered in the cutest pink and blue-themed baby shower decorations and gifts! Everything from the table cloths to the balloons, to sashes for the pregnant mothers to wear around their bellies, to gift bags and gift-wrapped boxes filled the gym to make the moms feel special and valued.
The moms were showered with personal gifts for themselves as well as gifts for their babies! Everything from baby bathtubs, baby bags, baby bottles, breast pumps with supplies, baby bibs, baby food, formula, sippy cups, humidifiers, bassinets, cribs, mattresses, bouncers, walkers, swings, pajamas, socks, baby clothes & shoes with hats, ties, and even bow-ties for the baby boys were available for the moms to shop for free for their children. Not to mention lots of diapers!
There were 37 or more moms in attendance at the event along with 12 grandmothers, 2 fathers, and several siblings! Childcare was offered for the children in attendance so the moms could enjoy themselves and focus without any distractions on the fun games, prizes, musical selections, and the encouraging message shared by Mrs. Lashonda Logan entitled “Broken Crayons Still Color.” As the event continued, the grandmothers and fathers went into separate groups where they were able to fellowship with the other grandmothers and fathers in attendance and receive encouragement catered to their specific roles in the family.
Mrs. Debra Shannon and Ms. Anne Lindsay shared wisdom with the grandmothers and encouraged them to read books with their grandchildren. Pastor Anthony Hailey and Chavis Horton shared encouragement with the fathers during their time of fellowship. All of the attendees enjoyed a delicious meal that consisted of fried chicken, dirty rice, baked macaroni and cheese, corn, green beans, and a dinner roll! VCC Member Tammy Gray also provided sweet treats such as mini bundt cakes with little edible chocolate babies and other adorable desserts for the guests to enjoy. Each of the members who participated in the event was given an invitation to receive salvation through the ministering of the gospel. 10 of the mothers responded to the invitation to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior, 2 of the mothers received the infilling of the Holy Spirit and 2 of the fathers surrendered their lives to Christ!
We are so grateful for the opportunity to shower these families with the love of the Father and to usher in the blessings that will make a generational impact on their families forever! We thank God for our pastor, Pastor Marilyn Gool who values life in the womb and has a heart for the upcoming generations. We also thank God for our wonderful hosts, Georgia Herron and Wendy Chaplin, our beautiful vocalist, Kim Witherspoon, and our amazing guest speaker, Lashonda McNeil! We also thank God for our fantastic volunteers, and our generous members along with the Pregnancy Resource Center and others who donated the items for the mothers! For all He has done and for all He will continue to do, we will continue to shout, “TO GOD BE THE GLORY!”
