On Saturday, August 24, Victory Christian Center, led by Pastor Marilyn Gool, participated in a historic event—the transformation of a prison camp into a Christian Trade School. The opening of the 5&2 Trade School campus was a day of great spiritual significance, as the street was officially changed from Old Prison Camp Road, to Break the Cycle Drive. This is believed to be the first prison in the United States, repurposed into a trade school.

The celebration began with a parade led by Polkton County Chief of Police, Clifton Parton, and included the mayor, city council members, NC State Senator Paul Newton, Cyril Prabhu, Pastor Marilyn Gool, and other North Carolina dignitaries.

Over 200 guests were present, including our VCC members, our Evangelism Team, and Miss South Carolina! Our Pastor received the prison keys from Secretary of State for Department of Adult Corrections to represent the transfer of power from the prison to the church.

The attendees had a great time of praise and celebration. The day ended with Victory Christian Center planting a financial seed into the 5-2 Trade School. The school will offer free education for students who had or currently have a parent incarcerated, training in fields such as welding, automotive repair, and culinary arts so that they can transition into fruitful careers. The school is expected to open for its first round of students this fall. To that we say, “To God be the GLORY!”

Special thanks to all the members of Victory Christian Center and our Evangelism team for your support!
